News

4 years ago FIGLA added to its website - figlausa.com - our own photography of the GM GLOBAL HQ., DETROIT MI, CIRCULATION RING WALKWAY, which has been recently (February 2006) been reviewed in the magazine ARCHITECTURAL RECORD. Architects at the Chicago office of SKIDMORE OWINGS & MERRILL LLP chose a FIGLA custom anti-skid TAPESTRY pattern for the top surface of the 3-layer laminated glass floor panels. FIGLA also made 16 directional compass point patterns by the same process, which consists of digitally controlled sandblasting plus a unique acid-washed finish. This makes the walking surfaces safe for pedestrians, and extremely durable - the walkway has been open to the public since 1999. A similar walkway, partly indoor & partly outdoor, has been in service since 1995 at the TOKYO INTERNATIONAL FORUM, Tokyo, Japan (designed by American architect Rafael Vinoly).

Our website can show you these & other projects in which custom design applications of the TAPESTRY process have been used. FIGLA welcomes small or large project related inquiries for TAPESTRY use for floors, ceilings and interior wall or partition systems.
